Connecting to the internet

The wi-fi network at the University of Surrey is called eduroam. Connect your mobile devices to eduroam wi-fi for uninterrupted connectivity between campus and your University accommodation.
Eduroam wi-fi is available on all University of Surrey campuses
To connect to eduroam wi-fi please follow the steps below or view the step-by-step guide (PDF):
- Complete online pre-registration.
- Your IT account is automatically created. The username and password you used to pre-register will be the same ones you need to access your IT account and to connect to eduroam wi-fi.
- Wait 24-48 hours after pre-registering before connecting to eduroam wi-fi. After successfully completing online pre-registration, your account can take between 24 and 48 hours to activate.
- Check your wi-fi is turned on. In the wi-fi settings for your device, select “eduroam” and enter your University of Surrey credentials username@surrey.ac.uk (e.g. ab12345@surrey.ac.uk) and your password. Follow detailed instructions and troubleshooting further down on this page.
Please note:
- Some devices will require you to download the ‘get eduroam’ application from your device’s play store.
- In your University accommodation please use the Residents Network (RESNET_WIFI) to connect your games consoles and smart devices.
